Anthony dollar in honor of the women’s rights advocate by the same name. Aside from wanting to honor Susan B. Anthony, the U.S. Treasury Department hoped to do away with the one-dollar paper note, which only lasted 18 months in circulation yet required so much money to mint compared to coins.
