Vanguard Total International Stock Index (VTIAX) For broad exposure to foreign stocks in both developed and emerging markets, it's tough to beat VTIAX. The fund tracks the FTSE Global All Cap ex U.S. Index, which consists of 7,455 non-U.S. stocks. The expense ratio for VTIAX is a low 0.11% with a minimum $3,000 investment.Fee is a bit lower on VTI + VXUS. VT doesn't qualify for foreign tax credit but VXUS does which is a reason for VTI + VXUS in taxable. VTI + VXUS also allows a bit of account placement flexibility. We like keeping VXUS in taxable. VXUS is only about 10% of our portfolio (yes we are light on int) but it ~55% in taxable because we have zero VXUS ... The other thing with Fidelity Zero is they're exclusive to Fidelity, so if you ever want to change brokerages you'd have to liquidate the funds. This doesn't really matter in a tax advantaged account, but I wouldn't use them in a taxable account because of the hit you'd take. I have VTI and VXUS in my taxable account with Fidelity.
