Answer 1 of 2: Hello, We are going in July to Hawaii, 8 nights Oahu and 7 nights Big Island. Flying from Oahu to big island- Hilo then fly out of big island- Kona back to California. Ah - well, being that you are from California, you can get back to Hawaii much easier than most folks. I would go to Kauai for the first time with kids and then start saving for the Big Island. The Sheraton is in the south part of Kailua-Kona, the Westin on Hapuna Beach on the Kohala Coast. Kailua-Kona is more built up, many shops, restaurants, condo complexes along the shore. Kohala Coast is more rurual, there are resort complexes that dot the coast but for the most part it is very open.
