Straying into complete theory territory, but Dawnshards are powerful. There might be ways of making a Dawnshard completely destroy, or even lock out a Shard somewhere for good. Splinter it and remove any method of getting it back. Imagine I splinter a Shard completely, and its splintered parts are, lets say, metals.I feel like a Much better plan would simply be to do research into shattering shards more safely. We see that surgebinding still works with honor out of the picture, and while earlier shatterings caused issues, the Dor eventually stabilized (relatively) and the different ways existing at all implies to me that there's a safer way. My personal theory is that the sixteenth shard, which we know to have an intent along the lines of Wisdom, is in some way related to Silverlight, the Cognitive Realm city that has several universities.
